CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPENINGS

(volunteers must be at least 16 yrs old)

Animal Care Assistants You will help with feeding adoption animals and keeping their kennels and cages clean and comfy. Various shifts available 7 days a week between 7 am to 7 pm.
Dog Walkers You get a chance to walk adoption dogs for exercise and socialization. Training is provided. Weekend and evening shifts are available 7 days a week.
Vet Run Drivers Using the HBSPCA mini-van you will take animals (usually cats and dogs) to local veterinary clinics for health checks. A 'vet run' shift can last from one to two hours and occur Monday to Friday from approximately 8:30 am to 10:00 am and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am to noon. A clear driving record is required and some bending and lifting is involved.
Foster Care Providers Fostering volunteers care for selected animals in their own homes. These animals are usually quite young and may be mildly ill. They are primarily kittens, but adult cats and dogs may also be included from time to time. Support such as food and medical treatment will be provided by the SPCA on an as needed basis. Fostering usually involves a "24/7" commitment by the volunteer. Volunteers must complete a screening process, including police check and two references.
Donation Box Associates Donation Box Associates support and manage existing Donation Box Routes, routinely emptying existing boxes, removing unprofitable boxes and opening up new boxes in high traffic retail outlets on their route. A valid drivers license, clear driving record and excellent oral communication skills are required. A police clearance and a personal interview will be required.
Adoption Call Centre Retrieve Adoption Centre messages/answer calls and record in log book, respond to general queries, forward others to appropriate manager/staff. Adhere to SPCA policies and procedures.Click here for more information
