Dog Obedience

By far, the most common reason why people choose to give up a pet...he chews...he jumps...won't listen...runs away. All too often, pets are surrendered to the HBSPCA because of behaviour issues that could have been corrected with proper training. Training the pet's guardian to understand why the dog or puppy behaves in a certain manner and how to respond appropriately results in a happy and long relationship.
The Dog Obedience/Behaviour Training Course aims to:
- provide dog owners with a basic understanding of training techniques resulting in a well-behaved pet in a normal home environment
- familiarize training participants with the relevant bylaws concerning their pets
Participants of the dog training course will be instructed on how to make their dogs follow the basic obedience commands of Heel, Come, Sit, Down, Stand and Stay. They will also be given hints on simplifying house training. During the eight (8) one-hour sessions, the dog will learn through repetition and memory. Each exercise will be done individually so as not to confuse both dog and owner.
Course Requirements:
- provide dog owners with a basic understanding of training techniques resulting in a well-behaved pet in a normal home environment
- familiarize training participants with the relevant bylaws concerning their pets
