become a foster
Make a Donation
This Giving Tuesday (November 29, 2022), all funds raised will be directly invested into the expansion of our foster program. Did you know that the HBSPCA supports up to 200 animals a day through our community, in our programs and in care in our kennels?
Kennel capacity is limited and it’s crucial that we expand upon the recruitment, training and resources required to build out a robust foster program so that more animals can be rescued and rehomed. We’re #FosteringHope for animals in need and we need your help!
Become a Foster Parent
Being a foster caregiver is rewarding in more ways than one and we hope that in honour of our Giving Tuesday campaign that you consider opening your hearts to fostering in the future!
As of November 2022, the HBSPCA has approximately 13 foster familes – given the sheer volume of animals in our care daily, it’s crucial that we expand our roster of dedicated foster parents to help us continue to increase the ongoing impact for our shelter pets.
Here are some common reasons an animal might need a foster parent:
- A young animal needs a comfortable home to grow until it’s big enough for a spay/neuter surgery.
- Treatment of illness.
- Newborn animals without mothers to feed them, in need of bottle feeding and close monitoring.
- Animals that need socialization time to build trust in the human-animal bond in a home environment.
