Did you know that each animals picture is labeled with their name and how they came to be in care of the HBSPCA? You may have noticed that many of the small animals waiting for adoption find themselves without a home because their previous owners no longer had time for them, or their children lost interest. Adopting a small animal is a serious responsibility, before bringing a small animal home, research your potential new family members specific needs. Rabbits and Guinea Pigs require a large cage or enclosure and like to spend about 3-4 hours exercising outside of their cage every day. They have special dietary needs with their diet consisting mostly of timothy hay combined with a high quality timothy hay pellet and fresh greens every day. Rabbits can live upwards of 10-12 years, and a Guinea Pigs average lifespan is 6-7 years. Did you know that spaying and neutering is just as important for rabbits as it is for dogs and cats, some may say even more so? The majority of our rabbits are spayed/neutered and microchipped before adoption saving you hundreds of dollars. We also provide nail trimming services for most small animals.
