One of the ways we honour this commitment is ongoing learning and training. Last month, our Companion Animal Hospital staff became RECOVER certified. RECOVER is the only veterinary CPR certification recognized by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. It is a standardized method derived from the latest evidence-based CPR guidelines. Essentially, it is the highest standard of care. And we’re certified to deliver it.
Training and certifications always take time away from the pets we treat and care for. But our small pause on care to learn and earn this certification enables us to do the best paw-sible work for our favourite furry best pals. And that’s the most important thing.

Ensuring your pet is properly cared for comes in many forms, including keeping their vaccinations up-to-date. The HBSPCA will be hosting monthly rabies vaccine clinics at our shelter and appointments are filling up fast! The clinic will run on:
- Monday February 27 from 3:00pm-5:00pm
- Monday March 27 from 4:00pm-6:00pm
- Monday April 25 from 3:00pm-5:00pm
