Enrichment That Leads to Furever Homes

At the HBSPCA, we believe that mental stimulation is just as important as physical care. That’s why enrichment is a key part of our daily routine for both cats and dogs in our care.

From snuffle mats and puzzle feeders to toys that encourage play and curiosity, we use a variety of tools to keep animals engaged and reduce stress. Dogs enjoy exploring different scents and environments during outdoor time, while our feline friends benefit from climbing structures, window perches, and interactive toys. These enriching experiences help animals stay happy, healthy, and ready for their forever homes.

From our $100,000 Cat Catio to our live Kitty Cam, every moment of play, exploration, and gentle connection brings our cats one step closer to their perfect family.

Welcome to the HBSPCA Cat Catio

Thanks to a transformative $100,000 gift and the ongoing generosity of our community, our brand-new Cat Catio is more than an outdoor enclosure—it’s a safe haven. Here, shy kittens stretch in the sunshine, once-traumatized felines learn to trust again, and cats uprooted by family losses discover moments of joy. Volunteers lounge on benches, offer soft voices and slow blinks, and watch as our furry residents greet the world on their own terms.

Sunny Perches & Climbing Shelves

Ideal for curious explorers.

Hiding Nooks & Cozy Hammocks

Perfect for nervous newcomers.

Gentle Human Interaction

Fosters trust and reduces stress.

Every minute in the Catio isn’t just play—it’s healing, confidence-building, and a critical step toward adoption.

Tune In: Our Kitty Cam

Can’t make it to the shelter in person? Our Kitty Cam brings the magic right to your screen. Watch live footage of enrichment sessions, playtime antics, and those heart-melting “I think I’m ready to cuddle” moments. Whether you’re curled up on the couch or browsing on your lunch break, you’ll see firsthand how enrichment transforms behaviour—and why each cat deserves a loving home.

Watch now: See love in action, share your favourites, and help spread the word!
