While we prepare to launch the new model, our community food bank partners are available to help. The following organizations also distribute pet food to families in need - we encourage you to reach out to them if you require supplies before our first Community Day takes place.
The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA understands that families may experience temporary financial challenges that make it difficult to care for their pets. We believe no one should have to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender a pet due to an inability to afford food. Our Pet Pantry Program provides short-term assistance with pet food and essential supplies to those in need, helping keep pets in the homes where they belong.
This program is intended for temporary support only and is not designed for ongoing or long-term use. It operates through the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of donations. As a result, we cannot guarantee specific brands or types of food, but we strive to ensure that every pet receives the nourishment they need.
This program is designed to provide temporary pet food support during times of financial hardship. Most families can access enough pet food through the program to help support their pets for up to six months. Our goal is to ensure this assistance remains available to as many households as possible while helping families keep their pets healthy and at home.
As we are limited by our donated supplies, we supply as much food as we can, aiming to provide one month of food for a cat or a dog. We cannot guarantee the amount of food you will receive at each Community Day, and we distribute food equitably and fairly for all households. If you need more food before your next Community Day, you are welcome to visit any of our community partners listed below.
If you're unable to attend your scheduled Community Day, please contact us as soon as possible so we can help you find another available date. Spots are limited based on supply, so we encourage you to attend your registered date whenever possible. If you miss your Community Day without letting us know, your spot may be given to another household on the waitlist. You can also visit our partners in the community listed here.

All of our supplies are donations, so we cannot guarantee a specific brand or specialty diet, including dry or wet food requests. Receiving a certain brand or diet from us in the past does not guarantee it will be available again. We will do our best to accommodate requests when possible.

Through the Pet Pantry Program, you cannot order prescription medication or prescription diets. However, if you are looking for over-the-counter flea and tick medication, we do sell this through our website, which can be delivered at the time of your Pet Pantry order.
Bring your team together for a hands-on experience that gives back to animals and families in need. Our Corporate Team Days at the HBSPCA Pet Pantry offer organizations the opportunity to step outside the office and make a direct community impact through meaningful, team-based volunteer work.
Located just minutes from our shelter on Anchor Road, teams of up to 10 people help sort donations, pack pet food and supplies, organize inventory, and support the day-to-day operations that keep our Pet Pantry running. The work is active, collaborative, and rewarding - with every task helping support pets and the people who love them. And yes - there’s always a chance a furry visitor may stop by to thank your team personally.
Start by selecting how many animals you have in the household - this will help us portion out the proper amount of food for you and others in the community at this time. Once you've completed the information, simply click the 'Add to Cart' button. Once you're done adding items for your pet(s), you can press the 'Check Out' button.
The checkout page will collect your contact and address details, and provide you the option for delivery or pickup. Upon completing all required fields at checkout, simply click 'Complete Order' and your order will be added to the queue.
This program is run by incredible volunteers, and we have a high volume of requests. Orders will be sent out as a 'First Ordered, First Delivered' basis. Your order may take 30-60 days to deliver, depending on the volume of orders at any given time. We cannot provide an estimated delivery date until your order has been scheduled.
At any time, should you be unable to wait for your Pet Pantry order to be delivered or available for pickup, we invite you to visit any of our Pantry Partners found below. To be fair to everyone, we cannot ‘bump-up’ or adjust your position in the queue for delivery or pickup.
All of our supplies are donations. We cannot guarantee that we will always have specialty diet or a specific brand of food. Even if you have received a specific brand or specialty diet of food from us before, it does not guarantee we will have it in-stock for future deliveries. We will do our best to accommodate requests, when possible.
To edit an order, simply resubmit a new order with everything you need. This will replace your original order. Please note, placing a new order will reset your order in our queue, leading to a later delivery date. Please note, we cannot accommodate special requests to modify orders at a later date.
