Dental health plays an important role in your pet’s overall quality of life. At the HBSPCA Companion Animal Hospital, our dental services focus on early intervention - helping to prevent pain, infection, and more serious health concerns before they develop. Through professional cleanings, assessments, and treatment planning, our team provides accessible care designed to keep pets healthy and supported at every stage.
Providing access to dental care helps prevent more serious and costly health complications in the future. Advanced dental disease can lead to significant pain, infection, and expenses that may reach thousands of dollars. By offering preventative dental services, we aim to support pet families, reduce the risk of surrender, and keep pets healthy and at home where they belong.
How to Book
Dental services begin with a consultation appointment, where we will learn more about your pet and address any questions or concerns. Following the consultation, our Client Services team will assist you in scheduling the dental procedure and arranging the required deposit.
Book a Consultation
All dental patients are required to undergo a pre-surgical consultation with one of our veterinarians. This appointment allows us to:

Assess Your Pet’s Overall Health

Evaluate the Extent of Dental Disease

Determine if a Dental Procedure is in your Pet’s Best Interest

Provide a Treatment Plan and Cost Estimate
Additional Preventative Services
During your pet’s dental consultation, we can also review and update important preventative care. Vaccinations should be brought up to date at the time of the dental procedure, and a microchip can be safely implanted while your pet is under anesthesia. Available add-ons include:
Pre-Surgical Testing
Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is strongly recommended and may in some cases be required to ensure your pet is healthy enough to safely undergo anesthesia. This testing can be completed at the time of the consultation.
HBSPCA veterinarians reserve the right to decline dental procedures if a patient is deemed unsuitable for anesthesia based on examination or test results.
Consultation Fee: $85.00
This fee is required at the time of booking and is non-refundable, including in cases where a pet is not approved for the procedure.
Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment Pricing Guide
Dental procedures can be difficult to fully assess during an initial consultation, as much of the dental disease may only become visible once your pet is under anesthesia and a full oral examination can be completed. While we provide an estimated treatment level and pricing range beforehand, the severity of dental disease - and the final cost of the procedure - may change based on findings during surgery.
