Beyond the Rainbow Bridge: Annual Pet Memorial Service

The loss of a beloved companion animal is profound. The bond we share with our pets is real, deep, and life-changing - and when they're gone, the grief that follows deserves to be taken seriously. Whether your loss is recent or something you've carried quietly for years, Beyond the Rainbow Bridge offers something that can be hard to find: a room full of people who truly understand.

The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA is proud to be on site at this annual pet memorial service, hosted by Bay Gardens Funeral Home Burlington Chapel. Together, we're creating an afternoon of reflection, remembrance, and gentle connection - a place where the animals who shaped our lives can be honoured openly and without hesitation.

What to Expect

This is a welcoming, unhurried afternoon. There's no formal program to follow and no pressure to participate in any particular way. Come when you're ready, stay as long as feels right, and take the time you need.

The atmosphere is warm and community-centred - you may find yourself in quiet reflection, sharing a memory with someone nearby, or simply sitting with your feelings in a space that holds them with care. Grief can be isolating, and one of the most powerful things this event offers is the reminder that you are not alone in yours.

Throughout the afternoon you'll find remembrance activities, meaningful keepsakes, light refreshments, and pet-themed giveaways. The HBSPCA team will be on site with community resources and information for those navigating loss.

What to Bring

We invite you to bring a framed photo of your pet. Displaying their image during the service is a simple, meaningful way to introduce them to the room - to say, without words, that they were here, they were loved, and they still matter.

Who Should Come

This event is open to everyone in the community. If you have loved and lost an animal companion - recently or long ago - there is a place for you here. Well-behaved pets are also warmly welcome to attend alongside their families.

You don't need to be in active grief to come. You may be supporting someone who is, or you may simply want to honour a pet you still think about every day. All of that belongs here.
