Each Animal That Comes Through Our Doors Has a Story

Two dogs being held; one is a brown and white puppy wrapped in a knitted blanket, the other is a small black and tan dog with a stitched surgical scar on its chest.
Some arrive scared. Some are injured. Others have lost the only home they knew. No matter their past, each deserves safety and a second chance.

Caring for an animal can cost thousands of dollars — from surgeries, medical treatment and food to the time and space they need to heal. Compassion opens the door, but it’s your generosity that makes real healing possible.

The crisis is now. More pets have been surrendered in 2025 than ever before.

Right now, our shelter is at capacity. Surrenders are rising faster than we can manage, and we cannot keep up without you.

Your gift helps keep our emergency medical clinic open, the food bowls full, and the kennels warm. Most of all, it means the difference between an animal waiting and an animal finally going home.

Let’s make sure every pet gets to spend this holiday season safe in their forever home — loved, cherished, and part of a family.

Pet Profile Highlights

Gin & Fizz were found next to their dead mother

At just four weeks old, Gin and Fizz were found curled beside their mother who had died — left completely alone, far too small to survive on their own. Without urgent donor support, they would not be alive today.

Because of you, they received round-the-clock foster care, grew strong and playful, and are now ready for loving homes.
Peaches was suffering from heartworm disease

Peaches came to the HBSPCA weak and fighting to breathe, suffering from deadly heartworm. Thanks to donor support, she received nearly $6,000 in lifesaving care. Today, Peaches is healthy, full of energy, and waiting for her forever home.

Your support gave Peaches her second chance — and right now, more animals are waiting for theirs.
