From volunteer to monthly donor, Marsha’s lifelong commitment to animals shows how steady support transforms lives.

Marsha is a dedicated animal-lover through and through! She’s given a loving home to many different animals over the years, both dogs and cats. She got her very first dog, a dachshund named Nugget, at the age of 3, and has continued to have animals in her home throughout her life.

Marsha could tell you the story of each and every one of those beloved pets – but one of her favourite furry friends was a stray rescue cat named Lucy, who Marsha adopted during her time volunteering in our shelter.

Marsha’s mother, who helped inspire her commitment to giving.

Her time volunteering at the HBSPCA in the 2000s left a lasting impression, and she’s continued to support the organization as a compassionate monthly donor ever since.

When asked why she chooses to give monthly, Marsha explains:

“Donating monthly helps HBSPCA budget funds appropriately so their volunteers and staff can make a difference to the animals.”
She goes on to explain, “From the time I spent volunteering at the HBSPCA and watching programs grow and the shelter expand and become even more attuned to animals' needs, I have seen how donations really make a difference -- not just saving an animal from a bad situation and caring for them, but actually seeing them thrive mentally and physically and goon to enrich the lives of their furever families… That inspires me to continue giving as a monthly donor.  Thank you HBSPCA for all you do for the animals!”

Marsha also appreciates the HBSPCA’s commitment to supporting people and their pets:

“I really like the way the HBSPCA is trying to meet the needs of people and their companion animals stay together  -- especially in these very difficult economic times.  Through the pet pantry program for example, or pet health community clinics it help so many who could not normally afford veterinary care for their pets.  Keeping people and their pets together and keeping their pets healthy is so important as anyone who has experienced the love of a companion animal knows.”

Thank you, Marsha, for all that you do — from caring for animals in your own home to supporting our community through your monthly giving.

We are grateful for you and all of our Furever Friends Monthly Donors. Your ongoing support allows us to plan, budget, and continue providing life-changing care for animals in need.
