Soap Saves Lives: Celebrating a Community Success

At the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA (HBSPCA), every single load of laundry means a warm, clean, safe space for the animals in our care. As you read in our previous call‑out (see “Soap Saves Lives: Why Laundry is One of the Most Critical Needs at the HBSPCA”), we were facing an urgent need for fragrance‑free, sensitive laundry soap to keep up with the more than 100 loads of laundry per week that our shelter runs.

Today, we are thrilled (and deeply grateful) to share that thanks to you, our generous community and supporters, we have received over 100 units of laundry soap!

What This Means in Real Terms

• Each bottle of soap means another few loads of blankets, towels, beds, and toys can be safely cleaned for the animals who rely on them.

• With the supply replenished, we can continue offering clean resting places for cats, dogs, and small animals without interruption — comfort, healing, and dignity are nonstop.

• Your support allows our staff and volunteers to stay focused on care and recovery, rather than worrying about running out of supplies.

To everyone who dropped off soap, shared the message, coordinated corporate or bulk donations, or simply offered words of encouragement — we thank you. Your kindness has made a real difference. It takes a village to care for animals in need, and you have stepped up in a big way.

While this incredible response has helped replenish our shelves for now, we know the need for laundry soap never really ends. With hundreds of animals coming through our doors each year — and dozens of loads running daily — our supply is always in motion.

That’s why we’re now looking for a community or corporate partner to help sustain this essential need year-round. A dedicated partnership would ensure that the animals in our care always have the clean, cozy bedding they deserve — no matter how many come through our doors.
