Lucky Lou arrived with his eyes sealed shut and in terrible pain. Here's how this tiny kitten found healing - and his happy update.

Update: June 30, 2026

Dear Friends,

We are so happy to share a wonderful update on Lucky Lou.

Thanks to the care, compassion, and support Lucky Lou received, he has healed beautifully. His eye has recovered nicely and, thankfully, it does not need to be removed.

This is the best possible news for this sweet kitten. Lucky Lou is now happy, comfortable, and thriving in a loving foster home. He is not quite ready for adoption yet, but he is continuing to heal and grow stronger as he waits for the day he can meet his forever family.

When Lucky Lou first arrived, his future was uncertain. Today, because people like you cared enough to help, he has the chance to grow, play, heal, and move forward into the life every kitten deserves.

Thank you for being part of Lucky Lou's story. Your kindness helped make this happy update possible, and we are so grateful to have you by his side.

Lucky Lou's Story

We reached out with an immediate and urgent appeal for a tiny kitten who could not wait.

Lucky Lou was just 6 weeks old - and he had already suffered unbearable pain. Found alone, he was brought to us with a severe eye infection so intense that both of his eyes were sealed completely shut.

Lucky Lou's Urgent Medical Needs

When Lucky Lou arrived, our team acted quickly - gently cleaning his eyes and starting medication right away. For the first time in his young life, Lucky Lou felt warmth, safety, and care. But at the time, his future was still uncertain - and time was critical.

Lucky Lou needed $2,500 for essential, restorative care.

This included:

  • Neuter surgery, microchipping, vaccinations, flea prevention & deworming
  • Essential medications
  • Shelter space, food, litter, and dedicated daily care
  • Potential emergency eye surgery if infection had caused permanent damage

As his condition improved, our team would need to determine whether his right eye could be saved - or if he would need enucleation surgery to remove it and prevent further suffering.

A Tiny Fighter

Despite everything he had been through, Lucky Lou showed how much fight he had in him. He arrived unable to see, in pain, and entirely alone - and yet our team described a kitten who was taking comfort in care, slowly settling into a world that finally felt safe.

At the time, every donation made the difference between continued suffering and a chance at healing. Every moment mattered. Every dollar brought him closer to relief, recovery, and the loving home he deserved.

Thank you for acting quickly and opening your heart when it mattered most.

With Gratitude,

The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA Team
