Purina Cares Week brought a full team to our Pet Pantry - rolling up their sleeves, giving back, and showing what corporate volunteering can really look like.

At the HBSPCA, our Pet Pantry runs on the strength of community support, and recently, that support came in the form of a hands-on visit from the team at Purina. The team rolled up their sleeves alongside our staff for a day of volunteering, part of Purina Cares Week, a company-wide initiative where Purina employees dedicate their time to giving back to the communities they operate in.

Recently, the Purina team spent time at our Pet Pantry as part of a community volunteer day, rolling up their sleeves alongside our staff to support the animals and families who rely on it. The visit was part of Purina Cares Week, a company-wide initiative dedicated to giving back to the communities Purina operates in.

"Our vision is really enriching the lives of pets and people who love them, and so you wouldn't have that vision and not do work like this," said Todd Cooney, President of Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada. "We truly believe that pets and people are better together, and so we create two weeks a year as part of our Purina Cares Week, and we give back to the communities around us."

While on-site, the team got hands-on, separating, packaging, and readying bags of donations for delivery to various societies over the following week. Beyond the hands-on work, the visit gave the Purina team a closer look at the scale of what HBSPCA does every day.

"I just want to thank the HBSPCA for all of them... how many pets and how many people you actually help" Cooney reflected. "We're just pleased to be part of it, and we want to thank the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA on behalf of Purina, for being allowed to take a look at your side of the business. We're pleased to assist as much as we possibly can."

Days like this remind us that impact isn't just about donations, it's about connection, shared purpose, and showing up. Purina brought all of that to their Cares Week visit, and we're incredibly grateful for their continued support.

Whether it's supporting our Pet Pantry, helping at the shelter, or learning more about our programs our team days are a meaningful way for organizations to give back, connect with their teams, and see the direct impact of their efforts.

Because when compassionate people and organizations come together, we can do so much more, for animals and the people who love them.
