We Are Building a Splash Pad For the Dogs. Let us Explain.

Outdoor enrichment is one of the most important things we are putting into the new Animal Welfare Hub.

Somewhere in the future of our community, a dog is going to run full speed through a splash pad, shake water on everyone nearby, and have absolutely no regrets about it.

Blaze the husky and Dumpling the apple-bobbing enthusiast have both since found their forever homes, but they left behind a pretty clear lesson: give a dog the right environment, and you get to meet the real them. That is the dog someone falls in love with and takes home. The Animal Welfare Campus is being built to make that possible for every animal in our care. The splash pad is a big part of how.

What We Are Actually Building Out There

The outdoor enrichment space at the Hub will span 3+ acres on campus, backing onto a multi-acre ravine forest. Across that space: 50+ unique outdoor canine areas, dog runs, trails, play zones, rest areas, agility parks, walking paths, 19 cat catios, and a splash pad and waterpark designed specifically for dogs.

For the first time in our history, every single animal in our care will go outside simultaneously, every single day. Every cat with their own catio. Every dog with direct access to runs and green space. No rotations. No waiting. Just outside, every day, as a given.

The Splash Pad Is Fun. It Is Also the Strategy.

Karen, our Director of Animal Care, puts it plainly:

"Enrichment is not a bonus for the animals in our care. It is a fundamental part of their physical and emotional health. A dog that gets to run, splash, and play is a dog whose stress levels drop, whose confidence builds, and whose true personality has room to come through. When we design spaces that make that possible every single day, we change what shelter life looks and feels like for every animal in our care."

Animals in shelters experience real stress from confinement, and it changes how they behave. A dog who gets to run, splash, and shake off on their own schedule shows up relaxed, expressive, and fully themselves. That is the dog someone takes home. More outside time, less stress, faster adoptions, more space for the next animal who needs us. The splash pad is joyful and practical, and we are proud it gets to be both.

Want Your Name on the Splash Pad?

There are 60+ outdoor spaces at the Animal Welfare Hub available for naming rights, starting at $10,000. The splash pad. The agility park. The walking trails. If you have ever wanted to put your name, your family's name, or your company's name on something a dog will use every single day with great enthusiasm, this is your moment.

Help Us Build It

The splash pad does not exist yet. Neither do the trails, the agility parks, or the 50+ outdoor canine areas. Every donation through the Unleash Love campaign gets us closer.

Blaze and Dumpling found their people. The next Blaze and the next Dumpling deserve the same shot. This is how we Unleash Love.

Donate today at unleashlove.ca and help us build the splash pad, the trails, and everything in between.
